MiRXES Donates SG$88,902 to NCIS Cancer Fund through Let’s Ride! Singapore Closing Ride

Ms. Low Yen Ling, Minister of State, Ministry of Trade and Industry & Ministry of Culture, Community and Youth, and Mayor of South West District, said, “I am greatly heartened at how homegrown biotech company MiRXES has extended its company mission of improving and saving lives. Apart from its research and innovation in cancer and RNA technology, the company has raised funds for needy cancer patients with the help of its partners. Together, they created healthy opportunities for the public and cycling community to ride and contribute to the collective effort. Today’s closing event in Let’s Ride! Singapore is a worthy example of our caring and inclusive society, where people from all walks of life and sectors join hands and go the distance to support those in need.”
Professor Chng Wee Joo, Director of NCIS, said, “Beyond building a healthier community by encouraging participants to be active through cycling; MiRXES is also donating to NCIS Cancer Fund, a sub-fund of NUHS Fund, to support our mission to advance health by synergizing care, education and cancer research in partnership with our patients and the community. The NCIS Cancer Fund supports more than 60 applications a year and this meaningful initiative will go a long way in supporting our less fortunate cancer patients with critical cancer treatment, from initiation of treatment to ensuring continuity in their medical follow-ups.”
Let’s Ride! Singapore Virtual Race
Let’s Ride! Singapore was a month-long virtual cycling event running from 14 August to 10 September 2022, organized by MiRXES, with support from People’s Association, Community Sports Network, Singapore Cycling Federation, Safe Cycling Task Force and NCIS.
The event aimed to get people to take charge of their health with regular physical activity while highlighting road safety and etiquette, as conveyed through its theme, ‘Go the Distance: Be Healthy, Stay Safe’. Aligned with Singapore’s efforts to build a Healthier SG through preventive healthcare and early intervention, it also complemented MiRXES’s mission to save and improve lives through discovering, developing, and delivering accurate preventive healthcare solutions for cancer, cardiovascular, metabolic and infectious diseases, and make them accessible to all.
Let’s Ride! Singapore garnered a total of over 4,200 participants who clocked a collective total distance of over 727,000km throughout the month-long virtual event and at the Closing Ride. Participants ranged from 18 to 74 years old. These participants could ride anytime, anywhere, and were encouraged to get active through the various cycling challenges and contests.
MiRXES believes that most cancer deaths can be prevented with early detection and mitigating risk factors and is committed to empowering Singaporeans for better health outcomes with its innovative technology and through related CSR efforts.
Dr. Zhou Lihan, Co-founder and CEO for MiRXES, said, “Since MiRXES was founded in 2014, our dream and purpose have remained constant – to save and improve lives and achieve better patient outcomes, which we normally do through early, actionable diagnosis. Let’s Ride! Singapore further amplifies our efforts to build a healthier community by encouraging an active lifestyle for disease prevention and providing financial support to cancer patients requiring treatment. This is well aligned with Singapore’s Healthier SG strategy which focuses on driving preventive health and early intervention, while continuing to provide appropriate care to those with existing needs. While also highlighting road safety and etiquette, the event showcases the ideal of a healthy, caring and harmonious Singapore for us today and for the future.”
